You can book an appointment through our online booking form on the Contact page, or contact Mr Kar's medical secretary at SD Medsec Services LTD on 020 3862 3990. Face-to-face, video, and telephone consultations are available.
Please bring any previous medical reports, scan results, blood tests, and a list of current medications including dosages. If you have been referred by your GP or another specialist, please bring the referral letter. It's also helpful to prepare a list of your main concerns and questions.
Mr Kar is recognised by all major UK private health insurers including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, VitalityHealth, WPA, Cigna, and Allianz. Self-funding options are also available for patients without private health insurance.
Mr Kar sees private patients at two locations: Ramsay North Downs Hospital in Caterham (alternate Thursdays/Fridays 17:00-20:00, call to confirm) and Spire St Anthony's Hospital in Cheam, Sutton (every Thursday 14:00-16:00). He is also an NHS Consultant at East Surrey Hospital, an Honorary Consultant at St George's University Hospital, and sees patients at Dorking Healthcare community clinic. NHS appointments require a referral.
Mr Kar specialises in a wide range of gynaecological conditions including fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, heavy or irregular periods, and menopausal symptoms. He is also expert in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
A GP referral is preferred but not always mandatory for private consultations. However, most private health insurers require a GP referral letter for authorisation. Please check with your insurance provider before booking.
Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive technique where operations are performed through small incisions using a camera and specialised instruments. Benefits include less pain, smaller scars, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery compared to traditional open surgery. Mr Kar is highly experienced in laparoscopic gynaecological procedures.
Yes, Mr Kar provides comprehensive menopause management including symptom assessment, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) if appropriate, and long-term health planning. Both initial consultations and ongoing management can be arranged.
Initial consultations are typically 30-45 minutes to allow thorough assessment and discussion. Follow-up appointments are usually 15-20 minutes. For complex cases, longer appointments can be arranged.
Following your consultation, you will receive a detailed letter summarising our discussion, examination findings, and recommendations. This is usually sent within 5-7 working days. If any tests, scans, or procedures are needed, these will be arranged promptly. A copy can also be sent to your GP with your permission.
